RG Council Bluffs Main Event (Day 2): Thomas Houston Hits Broadway To Bring The Field One Closer To The Money

Level 15 (1,500/3,000/500)
Total RG Main Event Entries: 278
Players Remaining: 44
Average Stack: 126,500

Thomas Houston is climbing up the leaderboard and cracked David Hengen's pocket kings to hit 200,000.

The rate of eliminations in Level 15 has been drastically slow compared to the constant bust out rate of the first two levels of the day. The main event field is less than one table from the money and Thomas Houston is responsible a recent knockout.

The hijack opened to 8,500 and Houston three-bet to 23,000 from one seat over. Mike Rieck folded his button and David Hengen moved all-in for 41,500 total in the small blind. The hijack folded and Houston threw in calling chips to put Hengen at risk.

Hengen was in as good of a spot as he could hope for with KK♠ a favorite over Houston's AK. Houston picked up some equity on the J♠102♣ flop, adding a straight draw to his over card. The 8♣ turn didn't change the action but the Q♠ river gave Houston broadway to send Hengen to the rail. As a result of the elimination, Houston is up to 200,000 and the chip leader at his table.

The field is about to go on a 15-minute break and will return to play three more 40-minute levels as we move closer to the final table.
