It's a story that's been told many times before but it is worth repeating once more. When Chris Moneymaker was on the bubble of his satellite that he won to qualify for the 2003 Main Event, he almost decided to take the $8,000 awarded for fourth place, rather than go for the seat.
The friend who convinced him to play out the satellite was Bruce Peery, who is in Day 1B. Peery offered Moneymaker $5,000 in exchange for half of his action after his friend won the seat, but the deal fell through before the Main Event and history is today as we know it.
A few years ago, Peery had a chance to put together a Moneymaker-esque run of his own in the 2015 Main Event. Peery ultimately finished 68th and his date with destiny would have to wait. This weekend is an entirely different tournament though, and Peery has another chance to match main event titles with his friend.
